The Rains of Castamere

Hello lovely people, here is a song that has been requested a few times since I made my lyrical song to the Game of Thrones opening theme. I do love the version by “The National” but I wanted to do my own personal version of the song and it was fun to create something new with the lyrics. Season 2 of Game of Thrones was amazing so this was fun to revisit that whole world again. I hope you enjoy it.

This is like a dream come true for me, no jokes. I love the song, but I wasn’t all that keen on The National’s interpretation (too much talk, not enough lyricism or emotion).

This, though . . . this was so awesome. Thank you so much πŸ™‚

I love your version of The Rains of Castamere! I wasn’t too happy with the National’s version, but yours is wonderful. Your voice is so lovely and it fits the mood perfectly.
    Thank you so much πŸ™‚

Your music is truly magical! First heard your version of Over The Misty Mountains Cold, then have listening to so much of your music! Really impressed! You should be involved in soundtracks and sorting out a CD! Well done, I’ve got some requests, love to hear you sing I will Find You from Last of the Mohicans, Gollums Song and Bonny Portmore. Amazing!

I cannot download this song except as a zip file which cannot be added to my MP3 Player. Am I doing something wrong?

  14. admin October 30, 2012 at 3:42 pm

Yes, it downloads as a zip file to make it faster and easier. All you have to do is right click the file and click “Extract all”. It will then ask you what folder you want the song to go into so for instance “My Music” or something and then click “Extract” and it will store the mp3 in that folder ready for you to play or load onto your ipod. Hope that helps. πŸ™‚

Was using the website 8tracks and someone had added this version on a Cersei fanmix. As soon as I heard it I had to find out who sung it – then stumbled across your website and I really love your work! You can tell your music is made by someone who truly loves what they are doing!!

    Karliene,

I found your rendition of the Rains of Castermere on You Tube. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and much prefer it to the version shown on the television series.
Thank you for your work of art, and for your willingness to share with others.

    Take care and good luck!

I LOVE YOUR Songs! Especial Sansa’s Hymn.

  23. Dumb Bof March 20, 2013 at 8:39 am

This is absolutely amazing! I definitely prefer this song to the sombre funeral-march tone of the other versions out there.

  24. QWER March 24, 2013 at 11:41 am

Really amazing! Do you preform at weddings?

  25. Karliene March 24, 2013 at 12:08 pm

I haven’t ever actually performed live, well not since singing in productions at school but I don’t think that counts, lol.

  26. Chance March 28, 2013 at 2:18 pm

I can only echo the other listeners to say thankyou for doing this one! I love The National’s version but yours is my favourite! Please keep sharing your talent. It’s a pleasure to listen!

  29. Augusto May 5, 2013 at 4:01 pm

It makes my backbone shiver everytime I hear it. It has all the impact and emotion that the story told in the music should have. Amazing work, really.
Many congratulations and please keep up the awesome work.

Oh, and by the way, are you thinking in doing a version of “The bear and the maiden fair”? I really would love it xD

  30. Jessica May 30, 2013 at 5:27 am

Hi, stupid question: after downloading the track to my computer how do I get it onto my itunes?

    I love your version!

  31. Karliene May 30, 2013 at 7:25 am

Unzip the folder ( i’m guessing you have done that ) and then just drag and drop the mp3 into itunes like another track. You can also right click the track and lick “open with itunes”

  32. Brady June 3, 2013 at 12:56 pm

Stumbled onto your version of this song after watching the show’s episode of the same title. Loved it. Will definitely be sharing with some of my friends πŸ™‚

  33. Karliene June 3, 2013 at 1:04 pm

I’m just about to watch the episode now, oh my god, ive been waiting for this one.

  34. Eduardo Reveles June 4, 2013 at 7:01 am

You need to do a new version of this song after watching that episode. I think the feelings must be so… different.

  35. Karliene June 4, 2013 at 9:38 am

No not really, I read the books so I knew the song’s meaning before the episode aired. I think I conveyed a sad and haunting feeling in the song, which is the feeling I got from that scene. i really don’t understand why everyone has a problem with the tone, I just don’t hear what you’re all hearing.

  36. Charl Harper June 4, 2013 at 3:29 pm

I’ve been listening to this song over and over, ever since I found it earlier today. All eloquence escapes me, so allow me to say that you have an amazing voice and your rendition of “Rains” is the definitive one. You are an absolute angel for being so generous with your music and I look forward to hearing more from you.

  37. pranay June 5, 2013 at 1:24 pm

Your voice is unbelievably haunting (in a good way πŸ˜‰
I just saw the “Red Wedding” episode of Game of Thrones, and this song brings chills up my spine. One of the most memorable voices I’ve heard!

  38. hsiuchen June 5, 2013 at 11:42 pm

I love it. But tears can’t stop.

  39. Felipe June 6, 2013 at 3:01 pm

I really liked their version of Rains of Castemere. I wonder if the letter is also yours, if could post the letter so I could do a cover? Love to record singing his version. Congratulations on the beautiful work πŸ™‚
